Baby Winter CoatsHere are a few things to consider when you are out hunting for the perfect baby winter coats for
your little bundle of joy.
The internet has made shopping for a baby winter coat a breeze. There are so many options that you
have to choose from it can be a little bit scary hoping that you choose the right one. You can buy winter
coats in just about every color, fabric and cut you could ever dream of.
Firstly you must consider that your baby
is growing very fast. It would be ideal to buy a little bit larger coat that will last them the entire winter
season. If you buy one that fits the baby perfectly right now, you may end up finding that you will need to buy
another winter coat for them with in just a couple of months.
It would be ideal if the baby winter coat has eyes or hook on to which you can fasten their little mittens. There
is nothing worse than always having to hunt for that elusive missing mitten. At that mitten will always go missing
at the most inopportune times.
Having a hood with any coat is always a
good idea to keep the elements of wind, rain and snow off their little head. A hood just adds one more layer of
protection that our little ones need during the winter season. Something to consider is to make sure the hood does
not have a draw string. Most coats will not have this feature but if you do find with draw strings we would
recommend you stay clear as they can become a choking hazard.
Speaking of choking hazards, buttons, strings, bows or anything else sewn onto the jacket that the
baby might be able to get into their mouth is potential for disaster. The last thing you want is for your
baby to choke on something they found on their coat. Most manufacturers and designers know better and keep
these things in mind when designing baby winter coats; it is still a very good idea to be extra aware of
these things before you purchase any baby jacket.
You are also going to want to consider
in your purchase of baby winter coats is the fabric. Fleece is always a super choice as it is warm, wicks moisture
and is extremely safe in the clothes washer and dryer. Wool is also super warm even if it gets wet. However be very
careful in washing and make sure not to dry it in the clothes dryer as it will shrink to an impossibly small size.
Cotton is another great choice but be mindful of the fact that it sucks up moisture like a sponge.
Other materials you will want to watch for are leather, faux leather and fur. As you probably
already not these are not machine washable. And since babies will get pretty much anything and everything on
their new coats, the last thing you want is to take your baby’s new coat to the dry cleaner every time they
wear it.
There are too many babies out there with out coats. So after you little one has outgrown their
winter baby coats make sure to donate it to many of the non-profits out there that will put that coat to good
use.
